my continued case for coach... Oh man, there are some great ... awesome ... posts on this thread!!!
I was just reading Brian's post, and yeah, I hated Boston Rob too. And yeah, the whole idea of being "delusional" by my standards IS an interesting reality I think many of us experience. I thought Rob played a fear based game, like a frightened child, and while he had a great plan for himself and Gabe, Gabe still voted for Rob -- it was Gabe's only vote. I love that. Again, I really dig the promise that the game can be played however the "players" decide it. It could be said that that focus on mine is part of MY delusional thinking. Dig?
Seirra was delusional in her own way ... lots of people are ... everyone ... everyone dependent upon the perspective from which they are viewed. I kept that in mind while watching "coach" and began to think that HIS story was far more interesting ... albiet crazy ... than many of the other realities going on out there.
LOL ... how about this one... "In what other game does how much you have grown, or how much you overcame, matter" said with disgust by ... was that brandon who said it? And I couldn't help but agree with Stephen on that one ... yeah, he did grow in many ways and had to overcome more than JT and why not use that as a standard by which to judge a winner???
I think all of us carry some ideas which do not fit, and I think too many people got hung up on "how dare he" ... sometimes "how dare he" IS the most salient issue of an otherwise mundane, mediocre, player ... like Russell Hantz ... who, again as a player -- I don't know any of these people -- is a dullard and is more concerned about proving how mediocrity should be elevated (e.g. that manipulating people -- which IS easy, duh -- is something special that he possesses) while he shares his I gonna git you if'n yous wrongded me philosophy. God. THAT routine is lame. Coach was inspired and became a delusional guy who I could enjoy -- the "how dare he be such a so and so" stuff just wasn't nearly as important to me.
What I find really unacceptably delusional is when people who can identify a quality personality trait in another then assume it a given that they possess that trait. "I am a good, fair-minded person" being said without some strong evidence to me is really unacceptably delusional. Being a character on a show where everyone in one way or another is likely just a character is what it is, and I am not interested in following these people after their time on the show to learn their truth -- not that that is a bad thing for anyone else, it just isn't my thing.
