So, what do you guys think? Anyone want to voice their opinions and predictions? As for me, I'm betting it's Bucky or Lisa who get booted tonight. I'd rather see Chicken Little go home, but I fear we will have to suffer through several more weeks of performances before he'll leave us in peace. Was Ace better, or was it just my wishful thinking? And Chris. Someone please help me out here - I need to know what everyone is finding so appealing about this guy. Is it the genre he insists on singing every freakin' week? If it's just because he's the only "rawker" on the show... well, that I can understand a little bit. But to really consider him some major musical talent? Uh, no. I don't see it. He does the smae crap to every song he sings, and really, how much talent does that take? Yet... whatever he does always sounds pretty good. Maybe he's just super-smart and I'm not giving him his full due. What do you think?

Just a gut feeling, but Simon was spot on in his analysis of the buckster. The pop-country boundaries of his appeal are showing, as are the cracks in his voice. Enough already. As for Chris, he's a perfect example of what's wrong with the music industry today -- the ahistorical, just-dropped-out-of-the-sky, won't-remember-what-we-said-today-tomorrow attitude, the snide narrowcasting and market-driven pop-packaging, all of it. For the love of god, ripping off the Chili Peppers version of Higher Ground because you're 100% rawk, 0% soul, is not "original". Neither is mangling a classic like "I Walk the Line" until it's an unrecognizable, overcompressed heap of distorted guitars and nasally, whiney, alt-rock pseudo-crooning. No bonus points for wearing all black, either, genius. I'm aghast at the judges on this one -- never mind not picking up on the RHCP ripoff -- their historical memory apparently doesn't even extend back to last week. So, Chris will keep doing this, and keep getting away with it. And for the record, in both cases, it's called "punting", and it's all Chris can do. Someone please give him a frickin record deal so we can get his alt-rock flash-in-the-pan OVER with and get back to musicianship, for chrissake. end of rant ;-)

Can you believe that crap? Okay, it was bad enough that the judges didn't call him out on the Chili Pep's ripoff, but then for Chris himself to not even give credit for the alt-rock arrangement where it is due? Dead to me, he is. |

I understand that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but since I like Chris so much I'm just putting in a word FOR him. He's great, even according to the toughest critic of all, Simon. It's kind of strange to bash someone for ripping off a group when that is the point of the whole show. Everybody is there to sing and imitate already famous people; to show that they can do it too. And in my opinon, Chris does it well. He's a rock star and rock stars can't be sweethearts, they're tough and cool. Chris is tough and cool and this girl hopes he wins! GO CHRIS! GO HOME KELLIE

Good point, April. They are all "ripping off" other musicians. And yes, that is sort of the point of the show. My problem with Chris stems from the fact that he's getting credit for "originality" when he isn't being original at all. He's only covering someone else's cover. It makes things... muddy, you know? I'm not saying he doesn't do a good job with what he does. He's good at rocking. (I don't see him as a "rock star" - but that's just me. I know lots of people do, so good luck to him with that.) It's just that the point of this show is to display a diverse musical talent - to be able to show that you can sing any genre well. We don't know if he can or not because he insists on turning every song he sings into an alt-rock song. I don't hate the guy or anything, so my rant may have come across too harsh. I just don't love the guy, either.

I understand now. I like him so I'm able to overlook faults a little easier. I have that issue with Kellie Pickler - so I can relate, for sure. In my opinion, she taking the Jessica Simpson route and I have to switch channels when she's talking. I hope Bucky gets the boot next week. Then Lisa. One down, two to go. My least favorites, in that order. Kellie's an alright singer so I could put up with her a little longer than these two.

Agreed. I think Bucky seems like a helluva nice guy and all, but his voice bugs me. Too growly. And while I liked Lisa a lot earlier in the competition, she is simply being outsung each week by better performers. It's time for her to go, too. After her - I'd also lovelovelove to see Kellie get the boot. Unfortunately, Simon seems to have a mad crush on her, and continues to pimp her mercilessly to the poor, unsuspecting public. And of course, if Simon says it's so... well then it must be. The thing with Kellie is that I actually found her quite endearing back in her first few auditions. Now? Not so much. I could probably stand her voice a lot more if she'd just shut up after she sings. Her stupidity amazes me. How can anyone find that... appealing?

They all can sing to some degree but does Elliott have something wrong with his mouth? It looks like it's puckered or something. Our IDOL should out sing, out look and out perform all the rest......except for Ace......he just has to gaze and smile at you! ![]()
