New time tonight?

I watched LOST and tivoed Martha. I went to watch it and they changed the tiem slot. Did anyone watch it tonight? What happened? Whos' gone?

Big task was to design, bake, decorate, transport and sell a wedding cake. (There were hundreds of MS's Wedding magazines everywhere to be used as references but no one seemed to notice that!) It was judged primarily on how much money they made, but Martha got to taste it and see pictures as well. The whole thing was supposed to culminate with a bridal show at some high end wedding shop.

Primerias went with a white wedding cake with white decorations that was tiered by alternating round layers with square layers. Howie was the PM - but had some wierd totally ballistic freak out during the whole baking/decorating thing. All worked out well, cake was gorgeous, transported great, and they all worked at selling the thing with no more little pissy parties.

Matchstick's Shaun (pretty newscaster) called a hoighty toighty high end cake lady and was told that unsual cakes were all the rage and pink is the color of the season. She figured it was a done deal that they would win and flat out told "Mr. Cigar man" that if they didn't win she should be fired. SO they made an offset oval tiered cake with pink roses and pink ribbon on each layer (looked like a cat in the hat specialty cake in the end - could have been better had it been centered IMO). After it was done, Shaun didn't like the cake's looks. They got it to the show with only the taster cake being damaged a little bit. (BTW - side note- Jim's wife had the baby girl and that annoying lady who is always mouthing off decided to not say anything and see how she would do in the end.) ANYWAY - they tried selling it as pink as the only color ( didn't think about customizing at all) and were completely stressed about it all.

In the boardroom, Martha complicated both cakes on taste. Said the one white cake was beautiful and the other was very much a special cake for very particular clients. blah blah blah. Martha asked Shaun about the whole "we;ll win or I'll leave thing" - she said she really thought they had the better idea and in her business you fake it till you make it, byt she was wrong so whe wanted to retract her comments. Primerius sold 5 cakes (profit of over 3000) Matchstick sold ZERO... yes, zero.... guess who won? Primerius to go to dessert with Donald Trump and wife. Losers to boardroom. Young inexperienced guy (cant remember his name either) brought the annoying one (who was silent through the whole thing and worked) and the cute little chef to the board room. Martha was annoyed and thought thte whole fault had lied in the research of the project and the selling of it so overruled him and brought everyone back to the boardroom instead of just him and the bakers. She told Shauna that in her industry you have to be behind what you sell (even willing to go to jail for something) and not fake it till you make it. YOur out Shauna. bye bye.

I really respected ol' Martha for doing that... broke the formula a bit. And Shauna put her own head on the block and got away while the annoying one worked and shut up and was put up as a sacrificial lamb. Martha wasn't having any of that. Good for her...
