Question Food at Survivor Samoa?

What's the deal with the last few seasons of Survivor and the food? Is it just the screen edit and they really are starving, or is someone trucking in Dominos Pizza from the main land of the isle?

This season, you see Ben catching lizards and grilling them up, some lady on Galu knocking a hole in the top of a coconut.., but nothing about a food supply, gathering food, ect.

Any thoughts on this? If I was half-starving, I sure wouldn't be doing yoga and farting around. Again, this can all just be the screen edit and they don't want food to be a big deal this season (or last).

Hi Bill, I have noticed that Survivor nolonger shows the players eating rice or beans and bare minimum foods.

This is what I know for a fact after listening to ex-survivors talk about the foods they get from the producers.
On the first survivor show they used to give each person a can of of tuna to eat. Plus lots of oranges for the vitamins so they don't get lime disease.

On the last few survivor shows I have noticed the players eating small limes.

Bill, did you notice some of them eating some small limes? I could see the green skin of the lime.

I truly believe that the producers are providing some food for the present survivors. I think they give them bare minimum of food so they start to lose some weight. But they don't get super skinny like they used to get.

Plus, sometimes they give them all athletic shoes so they can all compete.

On this recent show they gave them all bathing suits.

On this season we haven't seen anybody search for food. But I did notice a pot of crabs.

When Shambo went fishing and didn't find any.... nobody seemed concerned including herself. She chose to go for a swim instead. That tells me they have food.

Plus when Glau tribe won the challenge they chose the luxeries instead of what they really needed to survive better. I heard somebody say they had plenty of food that they could get. One gal said they had plenty of food that they could get around their camp.

TIMES HAVE CHANGED ON SURVIVOR. It is more about challenges and not about food like in the beginning of survivor.

Plus, I notice that there is only one reward/tribal council challenge. That is saving Survivor lots of money by not having to built too many activities.

I have also noticed that the shelters are so simply made and it hardly looks like a well built shelter.

I guess when a storm comes in and it rains they all run to some type of shelter.lol.

Those people do not look hungry or battered from the weather.

good points lucy and bill... i've also noticed that the need for food doesn't seem to be a factor...i havn't heard anyone on survivor complain of hunger in along time... although...i don't think they get to dine as they would normally... cuz as you'll notice when jury members get voted off... they devoir the food given to them en rout to ponderosa... then feast more when they get there... last season most members lost considerable amounts of weight... especially coach...he lost like 30 plus pounds or something i think... so i would say they are somewhat deprived of food...

You get vitamin c to prevent survey.

If you find banana, lemons, limes what ever you can eat the. Most tropical islands they film at have these.

Because if you notice, most reward challanges after the 4-5 episode are food challanges. They never did so many in earlier years.

Players kept cutting their feet on coral and getting infected.

Done that for several seasons, can't have "little Marcus" poking out on TV.

Showed Galu frying fish too.

Showed Galu frying fish, so someone else caught some.

Probst said preseason food was very plentifull on the island if you were willing to do it. At Foa Foa Mick looks like a skeleton and Russell's pot belly is gone. Not eating so well there.

Most likely true, Mark Burnett has said if there's more survivors they will film back to back seasons to save money.

Preview shows it raining hard and players looking like crap--they will pay for 1/2 ass shelters soon

Many a season we see them huddled in their leakly shelters pissing and moaning.

They've made things easier for recruits and returning players ( fans vs Favorites/allstars) to get them on. I agree I would like to see shelter, gathering food and challanges mean more than seeing the 4 weakest players laying around plotting to evict the people who actually do anything. But that is what it has become. The strong no longer have a chance to win for there will always be many more weak/lazy players to use #'s to control the game.

I remember one time they gave them rain coats as gifts.

Another time a survivor was upset because the barrel of oranges was getting wet in the rain. I saw the barrel of oranges on the survivor show.

After the Survivor show is over I hear many players say they truly liked the camera people and the other workers who work for Survivor.
I think the workers sneak candy bars to their favorites. They do become friends.
Those camera people follow the players almost every minute. They keep interviewing them over and other so they can get good footage.

I once when on a cruise ship and met Kathy O"brian and Robert known as the General from the Marquesa Island Survivor show. They got a free cruise and they had a show on the ship where people could ask them questions.
I met with them for breakfast one day and Kathy told me that she was betrayed by the winner of Survivor. They had a secret deal that they would take eachother to the end but the woman didn't take her so she lost. She regrets that she trusted that woman.
They can't tell us background secrets of Survivor so I didn't bother asking them. We just talked about their present lives. Kathy said she had to go for therapy because she was having nightmares about having to keep the night fire going to stay warm.
It was fun meeting them.

Default Survivor Australia

Now that was a season where they truly did starve. Elizabeth's hair was falling out from malnutrition. That was probably the toughest season to date; the way Survivor ought to be!!!! It is SURVIVOR after all. I'm surprised that I'm not seeing a lot of fish! There are things they can do to make spears. Rupert made one out of bamboo one season. Jayson(spelling?) this season is a professional swimmer; being a polo player and all. Why isn't he out there catching fish? The shelters are horrible! I feel no pity for these people if they don't try to improve their shelters after getting rained on. That, and everybody knows that you shouldn't sleep on the wet, cold ground. Haven't these people ever watched this show before??? My god! If I knew I was going to play, I'd watch survivorman or Man vs. Wild to get hints on how to survive out there. The logic eludes me at this point. Oh well. Let them suffer! It makes for GREAT TV!
