Survivor rules are written out preseason--it is an game show and must follow FCC rules. So we may not know what they are from season to season, they are written out--they have no choice in that.

EDIT: entertaiment to game

I feel like you're missing my point. I'm not talking about Russell himself finding the idol; I'm talking about the possibility of the show putting up the idol because it was an opportunity Russell of all people wouldn't pass up. The idol didn't have to be replaced; it was done without the knowledge of all the contestants.

Remember, Russell was screwed prior to finding the idol; my thought is the show knew that and wanted to give him a chance. They may not have given him all the information, but they probably knew that Russell was skeptical enough to do all the work for himself, because he would do anything to stay in the game.

EDIT: Nvm, your other post makes more sense.

Your quoting the wrong quote--in my other post I answered your question I think.

Survivor rules are written out preseason--it is an game show and must follow FCC rules. So we may not know what they are from season to season, they are written out--they have no choice in that.

Oh, okay. Why exactly are they different though? (I've never watched Big Brother before, but from what I've seen and heard, it seems like a game show much like Survivor. Aside from, you know, the emaciation and living on a remote location)

Because BB has 10 rules and #10 is the reserve the right to change the rules at anytime without warning. So it has no "set" in stone rules thus it is ruled an entertainment show rather than a game show. Survivors rules are written and can not be change ( during the season ) out so its a game show just like price is right or any like that.

Default taken out of the game?

Aren't the only ones that are put back into play the ones that get played???? For instance, if you are voted out with one in your pocket, its out of the game as well?? I thought that was how it worked. I know they have put played ones back into play before, so Russel finding this one again is no surprise to me. I'm only wondering about ones that go with blindsided players.

Probst also replied in his blog on how the new idols were easy to find, Probst was like " acourse they were easy, can't put the new idol in the jungle and need 20 episodes to find it when there's only 6 left. we want it found in 1 or 2so it can be played.
