| I've never watched this show, but I will this season because I'm an Asian guy, and I want to see how they do. For those who are sensitive about the race issue, I don't think this show will mean much. In the end, it's just 20(?) individuals who are competing for a prize, and you can't generalize and say, "just because an Asian(black/hispanic/white) wins, they are the best race". It really doesn't mean a thing. Racists will probably rejoice and claim superiority if their team wins, but racists are simple-minded. Now, the good thing from an Asian male perspective is that Asian men will FINALLY get some non-stereotypical TV coverage. In American white media, Asian men are portrayed as kung fu masters, or geeky nerdy types, when in fact we are diverse, confident and cultured. This show will hopefully show 3 Asian men as they are, devoid of stereotypes. They have their own individual character, like Brad is gay, and Yul is a former marine, so it would be foolish to generalize and say all Asian guys are like that. But, at least they break the mold I mentioned above. Anyways, I'm interested in seeing the show, so I can finally see real Asian guys on TV. | Why isn't anyone jumping all over this thread? If it's "racist" to point out a group's shortcomings surely it's just as "racist" to point out positive things.... ...or does that only apply to WHITES and WHITE MALES ? That we can celebrate everyone's culture but whites? celebrate everyone's role in history except for the people that made 95% of it? and lead all the countries in this world that matter ? /TG |

| It is not racist to make generalizations. It is not racist to promote noted cultural difference whether positive or negative. Racism has to do with believing one race is superior and having hatred or intolerance for a race. Period. WE ALL have prejudices....we all stereotypes...that does not mean we all believe in hate. Please understand what racism means before throwing the word around. Whites do not make up 95% of the earth. IQ measures potential ability not actual intelligence and I am pretty sure that some people have inflated their scores. |

| well...what I actually said was: "...or does that only apply to WHITES and WHITE MALES ? That we can celebrate everyone's culture but whites? celebrate everyone's role in history except for the people that made 95% of it? and lead all the countries in this world that matter ?" Read it again. I didn't say the world was 95% white. I said whites made 95% of the history that mattered, and lead all the countries in the world that matter. I will revise my statements somewhat, as Japan and the Japanese people have certainly contributed a lot to history and are DEFINTELY valuable contributors to the world order and, of course, are non-white. So the 95% number is probably a bit high -- but it was also there to make a point. Make no mistake, I hold the Japanese in VERY high regard. My original intent was to highlight two things -- the double standard that exists here, where MY posts are jumped on for "being racist" but this one was not, and frustration at the fact that "political correctness" has brought with it oppression for whites. The nigs can have their celebrations and multi-cultural days but if anyone tries to celebrate anything "white" it's immediately branded as racist. Why is that? Perhaps if these non-whites celebrated their real cultural diversities and traits at these public get-togethers people would have a different take on things? Just picture it: a multicultural festival where the nigs sell kids drugs at the door, and run around shooting people inside. Then, for good measure, throw in a muslim suicide bomber setting themself off every hour or so. Wouldn't THAT be a party? The fact is if the same group of small, closed minds that attack my posts applied their same standards and logic here, they would be posting all over this thread. But they aren't. All it does is hi-light once again why the political left has more credibility problems than they know what to do with -- they talk out of both sides of their mouth, likely because they either can't grasp what the facts really mean or simply don't want to understand. On the IQ matter - sorry, but Zagar and Holly you are both wrong. IQ scores measure ability and intellect, not "potential ability" as you have claimed. /TG ps - Zagar, I love your sig line! | Arian celebrations are racist. But hey my Irish family gathers with tens of thousands in Jersey every year to celebrate out heritage and no one complains. I celebrate Christmas every year and know people that celebrate Kwanza and we are all just happy to be celebrating....my Muslim buddy that I bowl with every Tuesday has never seen a bomb...sorry, his religion is based on peace. Unfortunately there will always be people that twist the facts. IQ scores measure potential learning ability dear. Since the first inhabitants of the earth were not white it would be common sense that most history is not based on whites. We have a very European history taught here in the states...It is hard to take someone serious that boasts of intelligence yet makes very inaccurate statements. But press on...you are angry...you are white...and somehow a white man in the US can still find complaints. The world is your oyster and you still do not eat from it. Tsk Tsk. |

The ONLY reason I have any sort of issue with you turboguy is because of your negative comments. I understand what you are trying to say, but it honestly gets lost when you use racist terms. I think you have an intellect that is shared by alot of people, but you sell yourself short with that type of thought. I feel that it would be fun to spar with you on issues, but you have to have an open mind, and comments like that are definitely a sign of a narrow mind. Prove me wrong, and I will gladly eat my hat. ![]()
